Year 3 - 2016/17
Welcome to Autumn Term in Year 3!
Our topic is Extreme Earth where we will the looking at our planet and the environment we live in. The children will be exploring different natural disasters such as volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis. In science we are comparing and classifying rocks making links to tectonic plates and natural disasters. We will be learning about palaeontologist Mary Anning, who made many interesting fossil discoveries. In art, the children will be studying the work of Cezanne and Matisse and creating autumn themed pieces of art using sketching, printing and modelling.
The children will be visiting a The Natural History Museum to enrich the Science and History curriculum. This half term we will continue to explore a variety of different writing, in particular setting description and news reports. Our maths focus is place value, addition, subtraction and length.
