Reception - 2017/18

Welcome to the Reception class page!

This term we are looking forward to getting to know each other and making new friends. The children have already made friends with Mabel and Betty the Early Years Guinea Pigs!

Our core texts over the next few weeks will be Owl Babies by Martin Waddell and Stanley’ Stick by John Hegley.

Maybe you could visit your local library and borrow a copy of the book or even another story by the same authors. As part of our whole school topic we will be learning about Dreams!  This term in other areas of learning we will be doing lots of creative projects, cooking, baking, constructing, making and exploring number and quantities. Please come into our class to see our wonderful learning on display and check back onto this page to see what we have done so far.

Important reminders:

Home reading books

Home reading books will be changed every Monday and Thursday. Please make sure your return your books on these days to ensure they are changed.

Reception will be doing PE every Monday afternoon. Please ensure your child has a PE kit to change into on this day. They just need to bring a T-shirt, shorts or tracksuit bottoms and trainers or plimsolls.

Home Learning

Home Learning books will be sent home every Friday and should be brought back into class every Wednesday to share with the rest of the class. This is an important opportunity for the children to share and talk about their learning. The children are expected to choose one challenge per week to complete.
